Software Engineer - Java
Summary
The Centive engineering team is looking for an experienced Java Software Engineer to provide middle-tier Java development in a 3-tier J2EE web-based application. This is a medium to senior level position that encompasses some design and much hands-on implementation. For information on Centive and Compel, please visit our website at www.centive.com/.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Work with the Centive engineering team in general and the middle-tier engineering team specifically to develop the necessary Java components to support the Compel vision.
- Work with the user interface (UI) engineering team to provide middle-tier Java components to supply necessary functions and results to fulfill requirements of the Compel UI.
- Work with the database engineering team to learn and further develop proper interaction with the Compel database structures via the data abstraction layer.
- Participate in technical reviews of Compel.
- Act as first line of internal support for the production and internal environments.
- Assist as necessary with the ‘push to production’ phase of product releases.
- Assist as necessary with application server (BEA Weblogic) configuration and tuning.
- Provide support for production maintenance through one-off requests and then incorporation of general requests into the Compel application.
General Skills
- Work with the internal engineering and product teams to deliver key Java development expertise and highly responsive internal support.
- We seek a highly motivated, creative and experienced Java software engineer to help us to continue to make Compel a state-of-the-art "Software as a Service" web-based product.
Minimum Requirements
- At least seven years software development experience, with at least four years experience as a Java web application developer.
- Very strong OO programming and J2EE design patterns.
- A strong understanding of interaction with database structures/abstractions.
- Experience with web/application servers, particularly BEA Weblogic.
- Experience in one or more of the following is a plus: XML, Struts, JSP, development work on financial applications.
